Education
     
Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology (School Psychology Major). Dr. Kelly  earned her Ph.D. from the University of Houston, University Park in 2010.    The University of Houston is a Carnegie Tier One Research institution.  The  UH School Psychology program is accredited by the American Psychological  Association and the National Association of School Psychologists.  The  Ph.D. in School Psychology is a clinical degree in psychology, with an  emphasis on children and adolescents.  Degree requirements included classes  in psychological theory, statistics, counseling, assessment, applied research,  advocacy, prevention, and ecologically and developmentally sensitive  evidence-based practice. While in the UH program, Dr. Kelly completed a  practicum at the Texas Children's Hospital Blue Bird Circle for Pediatric  Neurology, a practicum at Spring Branch Independent School District, and a  pre-doctoral internship at Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District.  
     
Maters of Arts in Psychology (Clinical Psychology Major).  Dr. Kelly earned  her Master's Degree from the University of Houston, Clear Lake in 2000.    The University of Houston Psychology program coursework included  knowledge and skills in evidence-based individual therapy, group therapy and  psychological assessment.  Dr. Kelly completed a practicum at the UHCL  psychological clinic.  She completed her clinical internship with the Houston  Area Women's Center.
     
Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts (Psychology and English Major, Minor in Spanish). Dr. Kelly earned her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Texas in Austin in 1997.

In 2017, Dr. Kelly obtained her Provisional License from the Texas State  Board of Psychological Examiners and is fully licensed to practice psychology as a Licensed Psychologist.

In 2009, Dr. Kelly obtained her LSSP from the Texas State Board of  Psychological Examiners.
Licensed Professional Counselor
Dr. Kelly worked as a therapist and an LPC and worked in community mental health from 1999 through 2005. She no longer carries the LPC, since she has the LP and LSSP.
Texas Educator Certificate

In 1998, Dr. Kelly earned her teaching certificate from the State Board for Educator Certification.  The certificate is a Lifetime Certification for English  as a Second Language (PK-12).

          

Work Experience

Dr. Kelly began her private practice in 2017, providing child clinical assessment. Dr. Kelly worked as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP) for several years.  She worked in Fort Bend Independent School District for  six years, from 2011 until 2017. She worked in Galena Park Independent  School District for two years as an LSSP and Post-Doctoral Fellow.  Before  graduation with her Ph.D., Dr. Kelly completed her Pre-Doctoral training at  the Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District's APA and NASP  approved internship site.  She completed two years of practicum experience  while a Doctoral Student at the University of Houston: Spring Branch  Independent School District and Blue Bird Circle Clinic for Pediatric  Neurology at Texas Children's Hospital.

          

Before beginning the Ph.D. program, Dr. Kelly worked as Licensed  Professional Counselor for The Mental Health/Mental Retardation Authority  of Harris County (MHMRA).  Additionally, she worked with the Early Childhood  Intervention Program within MHMRA.  She also worked as a Case Manager at  the Gulf Coast Center (MHMR) while working on her Master's Degree.

          

Just out of college in 1997, Dr. Kelly taught school for two years in  Pasadena Independent School District.  She taught English as a Second  Language (ESL) Math.
